Scope of Unit
This unit uses poetry as a focus text while we revisit lots of the text types that you're already familiar with. By the end of this unit, you will have a scaffold for every major text type that you can be faced with in your school certificate exams or in senior English.
Our focus poet will Japanese-American poet Janice Mirikitani. She writes very much from her own experience, reflecting on the impact of war on Japan, her relationship with her daughter and some of the social issues, such as domestic violence, that she voices her protest about.
